Spring is Coming!

We went for a walk in the back yard yesterday to search for signs of spring. There are a few daffodils sprouting up, but they haven't bloomed yet. It was cold out there!

My Daddy

This is my Daddy when he was a baby like me. We look a lot alike!

My daddy is the best. He likes to play with me and sing songs to me. One day soon, I will sing a song to him while I show him how to run my website!

Celtic Sunday

Every time I see my Grandpa Kelly on Sunday, he's wearing a green shirt or Celtic scarf. So I thought I should follow tradition and wear my jersey too!

Cookies!

All those teething biscuits helped me to cut a second tooth!
Mom and Dad say my smile is getting prettier every day.

Google Earth

My Mom and I look at places all over the world that are absolutely amazing.
From beautiful glaciers and beaches, to the aftermath of natural disasters.
If you haven't checked out Google Earth yet, you really should. It's the best FREE fun on the Internet to date!

I like the red desert of Australia.
The photo of the city intersection below is in Baghdad.

History of Chocolate (Getting ready for Valentines Day!)

Chocolate was created by the Mesoamerican civilization, from cacao beans, and cultivated by pre-Columbian civilizations such as the Maya and Aztec, who used it as a basic component in a variety of sauces and beverages. The cocoa beans were ground and mixed with water to produce a variety of beverages, both sweet and bitter, which were reserved for only the highest noblemen and clerics of the Mesoamerican world. Chocolate is made from the fermented, roasted, and ground beans taken from the pod of the tropical cacao tree, Theobroma cacao, which was native to Central America and Mexico, but is now cultivated throughout the tropics. The beans have an intensely flavoured bitter taste. The resulting products are known as "chocolate" or, in some parts of the world, cocoa.

Valentine's Day
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Valentine's Day
Saint Valentine of Terni and his disciples. 14th century France. Richard de Montbaston.

Significance Lovers express their feelings to each other
Date: February 14
Observances Sending greeting cards and gifts, dating.
Related to The Night of Sevens, a Chinese holiday that also relates to love. White Day, a similar holiday celebrated in Japan and Korea one month after Valentine's Day.

Saint Valentine's Day or Valentine's Day is on February 14. It is the traditional day on which lovers express their love for each other; sending Valentine's cards, candy, or donations to charities, often anonymously. It is very common to present flowers on Valentine's Day. The holiday is named after two men, both Christian martyrs named Valentine. The day became associated with romantic love in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished.

The day is most closely associated with the mutual exchange of love notes in the form of "valentines". Modern Valentine symbols include the heart-shaped outline and the figure of the winged Cupid. Since the 19th century, handwritten notes have largely given way to mass-produced greeting cards. The Greeting Card Association estimates that approximately one billion valentines are sent each year worldwide, making the day the second largest card-sending holiday of the year behind Christmas. The association estimates that women purchase approximately 85 percent of all valentines.

In the United States, the marketing of Valentine's Day has tagged it as a "Hallmark holiday".

Free Spirit Spheres

420 Horne Lake Rd. Qualicum, British Columbia, Canada,
V9K 1Z7
Phone Home/Mobile: (250) 757-9445 / (250) 927-2525 Tom@freespiritspheres.com

Uses for these durable Spheres are limited only by ones imagination. Healing, meditation, photography, canopy research, leisure and game watching are just some of the things you could do.

Spheres can be hung from the trees as shown or from any other solid objects like buildings or rock faces. A web of rope is connected to any strong points available. This replaces the foundation of a conventional building. A suspended tree house uses the forest for its foundation. The occupants have a vested interest in the health of the grove. The supporting web also mirrors our connectedness to our surroundings. Each sphere has four attachments on top and another four anchor points on the bottom. Each attachment is strong enough to carry the entire sphere and contents.

Wood spheres are made of two laminations of wood strips over laminated wood frames. The outside is then finished and covered with clear fiberglass. The result is a beautiful and very tough skin. Fiberglass shells are also available. The skins are waterproof and strong enough to take the impacts that come with life in a dynamic environment such as the forest. The structural integrity of a sphere and the ability to move and absorb shock loads combine to produce a robust accommodation package.

Skunks!

One week after being born, their mother abandoned six baby skunks. Luckily, these owners had just weaned five kittens off of thier resident farm cat a day before and hoped that perhaps she might take them on as her own. She was reluctant at first, but she let them nurse? A positive sign. Two weeks have gone by, the six little "Stinkers" are thriving, and their new mom couldn't be happier. She has become quite devoted to them and even carries them around to show them off to visitors!

Ground Hog Day!

Bulletin - Groundhog Day 2007 arrived!
Phil did not see his shadow!
There will be an early Spring!
Groundhog Day grew out of a mainly German superstition
that if a hibernating animal casts a shadow February 2
-- the Christian holiday of Candlemas --
winter will last another six weeks.
If no shadow is seen, legend says spring will be early.

Yay! Spring is coming!!!
