Froggy

My Mom and I found a baby frog on our tomato plant yesterday. I couldn't hold him because he was jumping to high.

I'm Back In My OLD PALACE!

After much thought, and experimentation, I've decided I like my old palace better than the new one. The new one loaded slowly, wouldn't expand pictures or show video. It was all fluff. So I'll be back here until I find something better!

Asparagus is the leading supplier among vegetables of folic acid. A 5.3 ounce serving provides 60% of the recommended daily allowance for folacin which is necessary for blood cell formation, growth, and prevention of liver disease. Folacin has been shown to play a significant role in the prevention of neural tube defects, such as spina bifida, that cause paralysis and death in 2,500 babies each year.
Its wealth of nutrients, fiber and very low sodium and calorie content make asparagus a nutritionally wise choice for today's health-conscious consumer.

Asparagus is:

* Low in calories, only 20 per 5.3 oz. serving, less than 4 calories per spear.
* Contains no fat or cholesterol.
* Very low in sodium.
* A good source of potassium.(1)
* A source of fiber (3 grams per 5.3 oz. serving). (2)
* An excellent source of folacin. (3)
* A significant source of thiamin. (4)
* A significant source of vitamin B6. (4)
* One of the richest sources of rutin, a drug which strengthens capillary walls.
* Contains glutathione (GSH). (5)

106* in Cobble Hill!

We dealt with the heat...today...

UV Report for Victoria today. (Click this title)

Don't forget to re-apply sunscreen today!
The sun delivers the most UV when it is high overhead at midday in the spring or summer. A good rule of thumb is: "if your shadow is shorter than you are, you must protect yourself from the sun."

My Mom noticed the sky looked like there were a trillion stars last night. So we looked into it!

While blue-white Deneb maybe the third brightest member of the Summer Triangle stellar formation and ranked as the 19th brightest star in our sky, don't be fooled by its apparent weakness. Marking the tail of Cygnus-the swan constellation (or head of the cross), this star is one of the most powerful and remote stars visible to the unaided-eye anywhere on Earth.

Located at least 1500 light years away, Deneb is still one of the brightest celestial beacons in our sky. Burning 70,000 times brighter than our sun, this supergiant is ranked as one of the brightest stars in the entire Milky Way galaxy. If Deneb was as close to Earth as Vega (25 light years) it would cast shadows at night and be visible even in daytime. But if it were as close as the wintertime powerhouse Sirius (8 light years), Deneb would shine brighter than the full moon. With over 25 times the mass of our Sun, astronomers estimate that in the next million years or so Deneb might blow itself up in a supernova explosion.

Tree Go Adventures

Reece and his friend Colton had a blast at the new "Tree-Go" park at the Bungy Zone outside of Nanaimo yesterday. It's Reece's 10th birthday tomorrow, and the Bungy Zone is a great place for kids to have fun. Pack a lunch,...because it uses up a lot of energy!

My Mommy & Daddy Finally Recieved Photos

It was three weeks of waiting, but the photographers photos of my Mom & Dad's Wedding in Tofino finally came!

Here's a few good ones!

A Day at Bamberton Beach

Bamberton Park is a great place for a family picnic. Between noon and 3 or 4 o'clock the tide is out and there are a million little creatures for kids to find. There's a clean and green grassy area with shade to have lunch and keep babies out of the sun. The washrooms are not outhouses, and there are lots of picnic tables...(not vandalized). Parking is a dollar an hour. We give it 4 stars!
