The Awful Dreaded Flu Bug!

Last Sunday it started with a fever. I've had the awful bug for 5 days now. Mommy caught it from me on Wednesday, and now she is sick too. Still, everyone is taking good care of me, (including my cat), and I hope to be able to go back outside next week.

History is Made

I may not remember this day when I grow up, but I was watching t.v. with Mommy yesterday when African American, Barak Obama, was sworn in as President of the United States of America. Millions of people were so happy they were crying. Daddy says this man will change my future, and hopefully generations to come.

Our Usual Saturday....

Soccer has begun again after the holiday break,..and it's a Tim Horton's morning for us when the players need to be on the field by 8:45 am. This particular Field (Eagle Ridge) is artificial turf. It is a beautiful field made from recycled materials. The dirt looks real between the blades of grass, but is actually tiny rubber pellets from recycled tires. Mom loves that there isn't mud and grass all over Reece and his shoes after the game.
Then we stop in at Uncle Dan and Auntie Jean's house to visit with anyone in the family who shows up. I especially like seeing Gage,..because babies are just so cute!

Friday Afternoon

Mom & Reece & I took some more pictures yesterday after picking up Reece from school. The fog was still hanging in there over the water below, but the mountains in the distance were quite clear.

Foggy Morning

When Mom & I took Reece to school this morning, it was very foggy. By the time we reached the top of the Malahat Mountain it was beautiful and sunny, so we stopped to take a few pictures. Looking down on the fog is really cool.

Tooth Aches

Mom had a very bad toothache on Monday and Tuesday due to a lost filling in a molar at the very back of her mouth. Eventually the pain was so bad she had to have it removed on Wednesday. She's doing better now that the pain is gone.
During the two aching days, she researched a bunch of different natural pain relievers until she could get an appointment. Most of them work, (and in pain, you will try them all), but the best was swishing Vodka around and spitting it out, then rinsing with salt water.

Here are some other remedies found on the Internet:

Home remedy of a toothache with clove oil
Application of clove oil to the aching tooth is best to reduce pain and also removes any kind of tooth infection. This is a very effective home remedy of a toothache. Clove oil contains eugenol, a natural pain killer and antibacterial.

Toothache relief using garlic
Among the most effective toothache relief is garlic. A clove of garlic with a little rock salt should be placed on the affected tooth. It will relieve the pain and, sometimes, may even cure it. A clove should also be chewed daily in the morning. It will make the cure teeth making it strong and healthy.

Toothache remedy with hydrogen peroxide
Rinse your mouth out with hydrogen peroxide. This will kill the infection and relieve tooth pain. This really works. Follow-up with hot salt water rinse.

Toothache pain relief with pepper and salt
Apply a mixture of a pinch of pepper powder and a quarter teaspoon of common salt on the aching tooth as it will give relief.

Easy home remedy of toothache using ice
Gently rubbing an ice cube in the area between the forefinger and the thumb for several minutes is an effective toothache remedy, as it eases toothache. It acts by overwhelming the pain impulses that usually travel along the nerve pathways. It has a 60 to 90% success rate. Ice placed directly on a throbbing tooth also helps ease the pain.

Toothache home remedy with onion
Cut a piece of fresh onion and place it on the side of your mouth where the tooth ache is coming from. It works almost immediately. And if you begin to feel a little pain again, just very slightly bite into the onion, just enough to let some juice escape. This works great for tooth aches that keep you awake at night or from doing work during the day.

Toothache cure with vanilla extract
Just grab some vanilla extract put a 1/2 teaspoon full in your mouth and let it rest on the tooth that hurts.

Ease severe toothache with hot wet washcloth
Apply a hot wet washcloth to the areas of tooth pain until pain subsides…repeat as many times as needed… It will amaze you… works for extreme toothache pain.

Stop toothache with wheat grass
The juice of wheat grass is an excellent mouthwash for tooth decay and a natural toothache remedy. It also draws out the toxins from the gums and checks bacterial growth.

Prevent toothache with spinach
Chewing fresh leaves of spinach makes the gums strong and prevents toothache caused by dental caries and tooth decay.

Malahat Summit

Mom & Dad finally got a new camera, so Mom took a couple of pictures at the top of the Malahat yesterday to see how well the zoom worked. I was sleeping in the car at the time. But looks like the shots turned out well!

My Mom

This last photo shows the Mill Bay ferry on the water. I've been on it once with my Mom & Dad when we went to Butterfly Gardens. (You can click on the photo to blow it up. Click the back button to return to my page after)

Happy New Year!

On New Year's Eve, I had a special "Big Tub" bath in Mommy & Daddy's bathroom. I missed the excitement at midnight, but I'm sure one year I will want to stay up to see what happens when the year changes.
