Looking for Flowers

I love riding in my wagon around the backyard looking for flowers!

We have all sorts of wild flowers growing in the backyard we didn't know about! We weren't moved in yet last spring.

Taking Lunch to Daddy

Sometimes my Mom and I take Daddy his lunch and have a short visit. I know the vacuum store pretty well now, and one day I might sell YOU a vacuum!

Uncle Mark's BIRTHDAY!

My Uncle Mark sees me pretty much every Saturday morning at my Uncle Dan's. He tries to feed me sugar cubes and cookies dipped in coffee when my Mom isn't looking. (he he)
And he is teaching me foul language too!

I Love his beard and his laugh,... he loves to say "Helloooo!!!" in a high voice that makes me wonder why he's my Mom's Bro.

Humming Birds

I was watching a humming bird drink from the feeder today and thought I'd ask my Mom to see what kind it was. Here's what we found out!

The Rufous Hummingbird nests in the northwest all the way up to Alaska. It is often abundant in migration throughout the west. It occasionally shows up in the southeast during the winter months.

Rufous hummingbird is probably the most hardy of all the hummer species that nest in the United States and Canada. They are beautiful and hateful, real ‘junk yard dogs’.
The Rufous has an excellent memory for location, no doubt assisting it to find flowers from day to day, or even from year to year. Some birds have been seen returning from migration and investigating where a feeder was the previous year, even though the feeder was currently absent.

From Amber and Jade

This is my sister Amber typing for me at the moment because I'm sleeping right now- but I told here what I want to say and I'm going to give people in Scotland an update on whats going on in the great land of Canada.I'm keeping my manners and starting to go to bed on my own. My parents are busy planning the wedding at the minute and I'm looking forward on spending time here with Amber while they're gone. She will be looking after me for three days with my cousin Tracy. Mum and Dad are having the wedding in Tofino in thier bare feet which to me sounds just dandy because I don't wear shoes. Afterward Amber and Mummy are going to be planning an after reception at the house and the theme is going to be a Luau and everyone is going to wear funny little grass skirts and Hawaiian shirts. Mummy has already started planning on the kind of food and drinks that we will be having and we all have a lot of work to do.. Right now my favorite thing to sleep with is my monkey. His name is ''mun-ki' oh and I don't think that I've told you yet but I've also started sleeping in my own crib all by myself! I'm so lucky to have such a great family - and I love Amber the best ;)

I Miss My Gran & Grandpa

I miss my Gran & Grandpa. They've been in Scotland for a week now, and I haven't heard from them yet. I imagine they will see places like this.
Maybe this is Jade's Palace!

Summer's Coming...be safe!

How to Put on Sunscreen Right

You can't just slap a bit on your chest and shoulders and think you're good to go. You need to slather up properly.

Step 1: Put the lotion on 15 to 30 minutes before going outdoors. This gives the sunscreen enough time to be absorbed

into your skin and offer you ultimate protection.

Step 2: Squeeze out an ounce — the amount to almost fill a shot glass. That'll keep an average-size adult protected. "Coat your body in a thin, even layer; there's no need to frost yourself like a cupcake," explains Noah S. Heftler, M.D., clinical instructor of dermatology at Weill Medical College of Cornell University.

Step 3: Apply it all over. A good trick: Put it on while you're completely naked so you get it everywhere. Then, when your swimsuit moves around, the skin that gets exposed is still protected. Make sure your legs and upper back are covered; melanoma most often strikes these body areas in women.

Step 4: Be gentle to your face. It's fine to use the same product you use for your body, but if your face is prone to breakouts, invest in a sunscreen specially formulated to prevent blemishes.

Step 5: Reapply every two hours if you are lazing around outside; every 30 minutes if you're doing something active that's causing you to work up a sweat (which makes sunscreen less effective — yes, even if the label says it's waterproof).
